Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
