FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in domestic competition over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
